Unreal …

And then the water situation in Jackson. I recently watched a video on the history of the Jackson water supply, a hundred years of mismanagement and neglect, just like with every other problem we face.

I wrote about lead and crime in 2013:

My source is still online:

Many areas in Arizona have extremely high levels of Chromium-6.

In 2018 I wrote about the extremely high levels of Chromium-6 in Mohave County water and it’s one of those very long pages with my correspondence with supervisor Jean Bishop and Gary Lasham, Public Works:

https://highdesertdirt.com/blog/2018/06/17/chromium-6-in-drinking-water/

There’s NOTHING I can do to get through their thick skulls.

Mohave County District 4 Supervisor Jean Bishop couldn’t care less how many residents get cancer and die.  She failed to alert the many old and sick residents in this extremely poor county.

As it stands, EPA has had limits in place since the 1990s for total chromium, set at 100 ppb, a limit that includes chromium-6. EPA is in the process of conducting a review on limits specific for chromium-6, according to the agency’s website.

Who could be so demented and NOT test separately Chromium-6?   Chromium-3 is a REQUIRED mineral and NOT toxic.

The EPA has done NOTHING In over twenty (20!!!) years after the Erin Brockovich movie:

Mohave County has been mismanaged for many decades by mostly “ultra-conservatives:”

The champions of polluting mining conglomerates (including uranium mining near the Grand Canyon), venture capitalist farmers exporting our precious water, cattle ranchers destroying the ecosystem on public lands, and any other industry bribing our corrupt politicians with their generous campaign contributions.

I like my $350  Berkey water filter.

It does not require power and wastes no water.  I got the largest model since I often host volunteers and dogs drink a lot, but most 1 – 2 people households could get by with a smaller model.   I got it in 2018 and finally had to get new filters a year or two ago at a cost of $200. I did the food coloring test before I removed the old filters and the water came out crystal clear.  Maybe $5/month?

NO plastic bottles, no waste, almost no toxins.

Bottled water does not contain chlorine and is better than tap water in most cities, but contains harmful chemicals and metals unless it is DISTILLED water. Does anyone believe that the established “safe” limits are actually safe?

WHY did Jean Bishop NOT put the high Chromium-6 levels on the agenda of a BOS meeting?  At least they could suggest that the residents be advised to use a GOOD filter for the drinking water!

Why did the County not provide free Berkeys or other high-quality water filters to residents on food stamps or AHCCCS?

Berkey states that almost all Chromium is removed:

https://www.usaberkeyfilters.com/blog/2022/01/are-berkey-systems-able-to-remove-chromium-6-from-water

A 2022 EWG article on Chromium-6:

https://www.ewg.org/news-insights/news/2022/03/what-chromium-6-heres-what-you-need-know

Chromium-6 is not the only concern and ALL drinking water is polluted.

Even our old aquifer has been polluted by rainwater (there is no industry or farming near Meadview) and exceeds the EWG guidelines for arsenic, nitrate, nitrite and radium:
https://highdesertdirt.com/blog/2019/10/24/updated-ewg-water-test-results-even-meadview-is-listed/

Meadview excessive arsenic, nitrates, radium

Meadview excessive arsenic, nitrate, nitrite and radium

This is how they’re killing us, and especially the poor, with impunity.

Go back up to the top of this page and study the graphic with the “annual return from lead abatement.”

Do you really need to be a rocket scientist to understand that we would save ENORMOUS amounts of money if we stopped poisoning the population?

This video documents the corruption of Mississippi legislators, supporting tax cuts for the rich instead of health for the working stiffs.

Jackson, Mississippi’s contaminated water is a product of the ‘circumstances of divestment’ Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba tells Joy Reid. Mayor Lumumba joins The ReidOut on day five of a national disgrace–the state capital where the water is not safe to drink, and citizens are being advised to keep their mouths closed when taking a shower.
