Since I won’t get the results of my scheduled Covid test for several days, I wondered whether it was ok to go shopping the day I get tested.

Don’t want to make the 120-mile roundtrip just for Covid and antibody testing. But I really don’t want to infect my 80-year old friend when I bring him his groceries.

… Given what we currently know about COVID-19 and the Omicron variant, CDC is shortening the recommended time for isolation for the public. People with COVID-19 should isolate for 5 days and if they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving (without fever for 24 hours), follow that by 5 days of wearing a mask when around others to minimize the risk of infecting people they encounter. The change is motivated by science demonstrating that the majority of SARS-CoV-2 transmission occurs early in the course of illness, generally in the 1-2 days prior to onset of symptoms and the 2-3 days after. … [empasis added]

For the record

“symptoms are resolving (without fever for 24 hours)” — as soon my sore throat goes away?

“People with COVID-19 should isolate for 5 days” — what date starts the 5 days?

When you were in contact with an infected person?

When your symptoms started?

When you were tested?

I’m so confused.

My symptoms were a little bit of a sore throat and my neck hurts a little when I move my head.  One day I sneezed a few times and I almost got a runny nose.

Started about a week ago.

I don’t think I had a fever, although I don’t know. Don’t have a thermometer.

My primary care provider North Country in Kingman is so totally useless.

Incapable of telling me how to get Covid tested.  They provided absolutely NO advice whatsoever after I informed them of my symptoms.

And they think I’ll call them at 7 am to schedule a tele meeting.  They must have a few loose screws!

Why on earth didn’t they schedule a meeting after I first contacted them on Saturday?

Why are they maliciously HURTING their patients, requiring a 7 am phone call to schedule a same-day appointment?

They’re unaware that sick people should be getting lots of rest and often have trouble getting to sleep?

I’m struggling to get 7 hours of sleep right now, couldn’t get to sleep till after 4 am last night.

The North Country website and messaging system were state-of-the-art a quarter-century ago, in the 90s.

Why is dealing with doctors so stressful?

When I called them last week to schedule an appointment for a tetanus shot, they made it a virtual appointment!

THAT stupid.

At least I have an excuse, stress-induced brain damage.

What’s their excuse?

And I had a lot on my mind.

Now I’ve been waiting to get a very basic blood panel approved by Health Choice.  It’s been well over a year since my last panel and North Country didn’t have the courtesy to contact me for a follow-up appointment.

That really explains why so many old people just die in front of their TVs one day.

Our doctors couldn’t possibly care less.
